Rohany Nayan, Ph.D.

Dr. Rohany Nayan is trained and passionate about her work that focuses on minority and immigrant families and their children’s experiences in their adopted country, and how the interwoven issues of culture, language and meaning-making act upon their identity and literacy development. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She has taught topics related to education, identity, and ESL at the Mara University of Technology in Malaysia, the King Saud University in Saudi Arabia, the Indiana University in Bloomington, the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is also a former school teacher and principal. Currently she is working on nurturing and growing the Jariyah Foundation’s mission and vision especially in fostering friendships, providing assistance and resources to vulnerable people, promoting dignity, health, sustainability and self-sufficiency in an effort to establish an everlasting legacy of positive impact on local and global communities. In her free time, she likes to play games, engage in interfaith activities, watch documentaries, read and create arts crafts like origami, kirigami etc. She can be reached by email at: rohany@jariyah.us
